At CRKL, we respect your privacy and believe social networking should be transparent and secure. This Privacy Policy details how we collect, protect, and use your information across our mobile applications and web services.

1. Children's Privacy & Under-13 Protection (COPPA)

🔒 Under-13 Privacy Lock: CRKL takes young user safety seriously. During account registration, users submit their date of birth. When an account is created for someone under the age of 13:
  • The account profile visibility is permanently locked to Private.
  • Under-13 profiles are hidden from public global directory search.
  • Only approved contacts and confirmed family tree members can view posts and activities.
  • No behavioral advertising, targeted profiling, or tracking is performed on under-13 accounts.

2. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our close-circle services:

  • Registration Data: Username, email address, password hash, and date of birth.
  • Profile Information: Display name, optional bio, occupation, city, and state.
  • Location Data: If you use location lookup services to fill your city and state, we resolve your general geographic city/state without storing continuous background GPS coordinates.
  • Kinship & Orbit Connections: Your designated Top 10 circle connections, friend requests, and family tree relationships.

3. Third-Party Integrations: Spotify

When you connect your Spotify account to CRKL to select a profile anthem:

  • CRKL connects via official Spotify OAuth permissions solely to search tracks, retrieve your chosen song metadata, and display album cover art.
  • We do not access or store your Spotify login credentials or private listening history.
  • You can disconnect or change your Spotify anthem at any time in your profile settings.

4. How We Use Information

Your information is used strictly to:

  • Render your Orbit, Top 10 network, and Family Tree.
  • Display your chosen profile theme, badges, and Spotify anthem.
  • Deliver notifications (such as connection requests, kinship invites, and @founder announcements).
  • Maintain account security and enforce child safety guidelines.

5. Data Security & Storage

All communications with our servers are encrypted in transit via SSL/TLS. Sensitive user credentials and personal identifiers are stored with industry-standard cryptographic protection.

6. Your Rights & Account Deletion

You have full control over your data. You may update your profile details or permanently delete your account and associated data directly within the CRKL app settings or by contacting crkl.support+privacy@gmail.com.
